Well right off its absolutely incredible. To me its really about someone who desperately wants to make everything perfect and take away all the pain and hurt from the life of someone he truly cares about. Its like he's really fucked everyting up, and now he will go to the ends of the earth to make it better. Or better put, to 'fix you.' I also love how there is something new to be found in the lyrics every time. Every time I listen to it, it seems to grow in meaning and depth. I love the organ throughout the whole song and the guitar work. It could have very easily overwhelmed the song if overdone. And I think the very simple ending gets a round of applause too; it showed restraint and let the song down very gently. Its the kind of ending that makes you listen to the whole song one more time every time. Hats off for Coldplay; they really struck gold this time. And and If you still asking what is he trying to say to us through it? simply he's saying that no matter what happens he will always try to make you feel better. like if anything bad happens to you he will try to fix it.
